General Eligibility

All applicants must meet the following core criteria in addition to specific post requirements.

  • ✓ Be a Namibian citizen
  • ✓ Between 20 and 40 years old (at time of advertisement)
  • ✓ Excellent command of English
  • ✓ No criminal record or pending cases
  • ✓ Willing to be deployed anywhere in Namibia

Remuneration Stipend: N$ 7,514.25/month (training)
After training: N$ 90,171 – 109,428 per annum

Minimum requirements:

  • ▹ National Youth Service Certificate (NYS)
  • ▹ Grade 10 certificate with 24 points in seven subjects and "D" symbol or higher in English
  • ▹ OR Grade 12 (NSSC/H) or Grade 11 (New Curriculum) with 20 points or higher in six subjects, including "E" symbol or higher in English
  • ▹ Namibian citizen (certified copy of ID or valid Passport)
  • ▹ Between 20 and 40 years old at time of advertisement
  • ▹ Free from mental or physical defects, disease or infirmity
  • ▹ No criminal conviction or pending case
  • ▹ Must pass comprehensive medical checkup, physical examination, and pregnancy test (females)
  • ▹ Prepared to undergo interviews (written and physical fitness test) and Police Basic Training
  • ▹ First priority given to applicants with specialization in TVET
Legal provision for appointment: Section 4 of the Police Act, 1990 (Act No. 19 of 1990) as amended.

Successful candidates will be entrusted with upholding law and order, preserving internal security, crime prevention, protection of life and property. All appointees must uphold the Namibian Constitution and Police Act (Act No. 19 of 1990, as amended). Officers may be required to work shifts, respond to emergencies, and commit to continuous professional development.

Note: Upon successful completion of Basic Training, Police Recruits will be permanently appointed as Cadet Constables and receive applicable service benefits.
